Itinerary

Your professional tour guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Cusco between 4:00 and 4:30 AM. After a 2 hour drive, you will arrive in Mollepata, where we will break for breakfast and pick up water and snacks for the trek. Then, you will travel 1 hour more to Soraypampa. Arriving at this mountain plateau, you will admire the impressive peaks of Apu Salkantay (6,230 masl) and Humantay mountain (5,250 masl). The excursion reaches a maximum altitude of 4,200 masl. After preparing your backpack, you will begin the 2-hour ascent to the Humantay Lagoon. Although the trail is steep, the group is small and your tour guide will allow you to enjoy the journey at your own pace. Once at the lagoon, you will be able to contemplate its impressive views and, if you wish, make a short climb to get a panoramic view. The descent will be much easier, going down Soraypampa for an hour. Then, we will take private transportation back to Mollepata, where a local lunch awaits you. After enjoying the buffet lunch, we will return to Cusco, arriving between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, stopping near the Plaza de Armas.

Additional information

To reach the top of Laguna Humantay, you will have to ascend 1.8 miles (3 km). All participants must be in good physical condition. We recommend that you bring an extra sweater, jacket, hat and gloves, as the first few hours of the tour can be quite cold.
If you need to rent a horse, please note that the activity provider does not manage these rentals and is not involved in the process. In addition, the activity provider is not responsible for changes in weather conditions during the tour; it is suggested to find out about the weather through apps or similar methods to choose the best day for the activity.
Since a pickup service is included, please note that it may take 30-45 minutes to pick up the entire group. If you are one of the first to be picked up, there may be a delay before the tour begins. Be sure to bring local currency for entrance fees and additional expenses.
